Thor Team-Ups In Marvel Rivals
Thor is a brand-new playable hero in Marvel Rivals and has the class of Vanguard. This role is for units that take the front line in battle, as Thor charges into the fight with his mighty hammer, Mjölnir. While he may be holding the front line, the God of Thunder is quite mobile. He's also great for finishing off weak heroes and absorbing damage for his allies.
While Thor may not be a Duelist like The Punisher in Marvel Rivals, he does still have strong ranged attacks. As you might expect, the god of thunder can throw Mjölnir at his foes. The difference is that Thor has more health than a Duelist and can also deal damage at melee range. This versatility is a major factor that separates him from the rest of the Vanguard heroes currently in the game.

Manage Your Thorforce To Excel In Battle
Thor in Marvel Rivals is very similar to how you would expect to see the God of Thunder in the game. He is extremely mobile for a Vanguard and has a unique mechanic that is key to his playstyle. Thor has a fast cooldown thanks to his Thorforce. This appears as small hammer symbols and is expended upon activating certain abilities. You have three charges and can regenerate them in various ways. Managing your Thorforce is important for proper play as Thor.
All of Thor's abilities in Marvel Rivals are listed in the table below:
Ability | Attack Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Mjölnir Bash | Primary Attack | Wield Mjölnir to attack enemies. When Awakened, Thor can launch lightning arc waves to deal damage. |
Hammer Throw | Secondary Attack | Throw Mjölnir forward and then it returns. |
Storm Surge | Ability | HOLD to spin Mjölnir before dashing forward and Knocking Back enemies. |
Awakening Rune | Ability | Consume Thorforce to enter the Awakened state, granting bonus Health and enhancing Mjölnir Bash. |
Lightning Realm | Ability | Summon Lightning to restore Thorforce based on the number of enemies hit. |
Thorforce | Passive | After using any ability, casting Mjölnir Bash grants one point of Thorforce. |
God Of Thunder | Ultimate | Soar upwards and smite the ground after charging for a duration, inflicting damage on enemies within range. |
Storm Surge, Hammer Throw, and Awakening Rune will all consume Thorforce. The Thorforce hammer symbols will appear over Thor in the middle of the screen.
Thor Tips & Tricks
Defeat Enemies To Support The Team
When compared to other Vanguard units, Thor may not be the highest on the tier list in Marvel Rivals, but he is by no means a bad character. Thor works more like an off-tank. He is not able to absorb as much damage as someone like Groot. However, Thor does excel in his mobility and damage. You will be supporting your team by taking out weak enemies. Every one of his abilities is centered around chasing down your foe and delivering the final blow.
As Thor, you want to rush into the enemy with Storm Surge. Follow it up with either a Mjölnir Bash or a cast of Lightning Realm to regenerate your Thorforce. Next, activate Awakening Rune to start dishing out damage with your enhanced Primary Attacks. You should use Storm Surge to chase down enemies running away or escape a losing team fight. Dantics on YouTube has an excellent guide on how to play Thor properly during a match. You will encounter issues with fighting flying opponents, such as Storm. A well-timed Awakening Rune can quickly dispatch these foes.
Thor Team-Ups In Marvel Rivals
Thor Needs The Support Of His Family
Thor benefits tremendously by having Hela on his team. These two share a Team-Up ability with Loki called Ragnarõk Rebirth. Whenever Hela lands a final hit on an enemy, she can instantly revive both of them. If Loki or Thor are alive, this instead grants them bonus health.
Thor also has a Team-Up ability with Storm called Thunderous Deity. He infuses Thorforce into Storm, granting her electrifying enhancement. With this, Storm can unleash a lightning barrage. Both these characters are a force of nature and foes should be wary when playing Marvel Rivals.
