id like to point out ray how much they have stepped the game up, especially wtp, the mid to high range bikes have switch cassettes on them, so they are both rhd/lhd compatible straight out of the box.

What do you guys think of the 2011 Mirraco Edit, i like the way it felt when i rode it at my local shop but what about durability? Its $300 which is about all ima be able to spend on a bike atm. It will be my first bike...well other than my mongoose which is incredibly awkward and heavy...from like 6 years ago ha.

Yah I dunno about that lolz, I try to help a lot but I can't do everything for everyone. Just look on the sites and see what they say and watch for sales and price changes .

Next time, try using the EDIT button. As far as the Mirrco Edit goes, there are better bikes for sure. But for that price range and the rider's skill level, its a great buy... there is no denying that. You would think that someone who works at a bike shop would have more respect for the sport.

Thanks for all the insight 369.
I had a couple of questions maybe you can help me out on. It's been a while since I rode but i dont expect it to take long to get back into the grove of things so im thinking of getting a class B bike.
Regarding the Class B bikes besides replacing bent or broken parts what other kind of maintenance would i need to do?
When comparing a stock bike to one built by parts is there a significant different in price or is it usually done just to get the users ideal bike?
Since i havent rode in a while and can probably do some damage to my bike early on if I were to get a class D bike would there be anything really worth salvaging when upgrading by parts to a class B?
While looking for bikes i noticed different styles of BMX bikes, considering i want to use it dirt jumps and street riding is there a particular style that is better suited for that?
I am 6'2 and noticed you perfer a TT of 21'' and felt unstable with a 20.75" would you also recommend a 21" or do you just perfer a longer style?
Hope its not too many questions either way I got a lot from this post so thanks for the info.

Thought id bump this up... Looks like a good guide up until the TT length. Seems to me ALL bikes in the higher(500+) price range seem to have 21 TT length. Im 5'9 160... would 21 TT be a hinderance at all to me? The bike i prefer has 21 TT but there are a few other options, albeit not full chromo for some that are 20.75 TT. Just seemed like the TT length section was a bit off.

When you're looking at TT lengths, you have to take into consideration ST angle. The steeper the ST (~71+) the longer the frame will feel. TT length is a preference and not something concrete. I know plenty of people who are 6"+ riding smaller than 21" TT.
